BlackBerry Smartphones To Be Manufactured by TCL Communication

Even though in the past few years BlackBerry didn’t manage to regain their position in the smartphone market, the company just doesn’t seem to give up just yet. At one point, everyone thought that it was the end of the Canadian company as a hardware manufacturer. However, BB announced that they will continue to deliver new smartphones. After the Priv, which was eagerly awaited by many, but rapidly forgotten mainly due to its extremely high price tag, the company released two new handsets, the DTEK 50 and the DTEK 60. And they won’t stop here. The Canadian smartphone and software manufacturer recently announced that they are working on at least one new handset, with a physical keyboard.

BlackBerry’s strongest point seems to be its software, known for its security features. According to Android Authority, the Canadian company will focus on this part of their business and will let the design and manufacturing of hardware to TCL Communication. Even though many people never heard of this particular company, the Chinese manufacturer is the one behind the DTEK 50 and the DTEK 60. And it seems it will also manufacture the upcoming BB devices also. Related to this fact, the Canadian company stated that “BlackBerry will continue to control and develop its security and software solutions, serve its customers and maintain trusted BlackBerry security software, while TCL Communication will manage all sales and distribution and serve as a global distributor of new BlackBerry-branded mobile devices along with dedicated sales teams.”

With this arrangement, BB can focus on the secure software the company’s fans all got to love, while the Chinese electronics manufacturer can handle the hardware part of the business. This way BB doesn’t need to waste any resources on developing the handsets, instead it can improve the software they run on. There still are a lot of people who would ditch their smartphones for a good BlackBerry device at any given time, so the Canadian company could make a nice comeback to the market. All we can do is wish them the best and patiently wait to see what they are preparing for us.
