BrailleSense Polaris is the first Virtual Braille Tablet for the blind

HIMS Inc. announced the release of the first virtual Braille tablet for the blind. The announcement comes from Austin, Texas, through a press release. This isn’t the company’s first attempt to help people who can’t see. The BrailleSense Polaris tablet is the latest in the popular BrailleSense Notetaker family. The tablet features state-of-the-art hardware and software. The gadget runs on Android Lollipop and features the Polaris Office Suite. What makes the Polaris tablet unique is that it integrates a touch-sensitive Braille display with Miracast connectivity to the mainstream computer or tablet of the user’s choice. The new device is similar to the previous Notetakers, but it also offers access to apps and Google Services such as Docs, Drive, Slides, Sheets and Classroom.

Even though at this point the gadget runs on Android Lollipop, this software is upgradeable. This way, as soon as new accessibility breakthroughs are available, users can benefit from software that is more up to date. Thanks to this device, the blind can keep in touch with the modern world. The tablet allows them to use programs we all use on a daily basis, such as modern Office formats, DOCX, PDF, Spreadsheets, PowerPoints, and of course, the Google Play Store, NFC and Android Pay.

The new BrailleSense Polaris tablet can open up a whole new world for those who can’t see. Thanks to this device, they can easily complete work they couldn’t have earlier. The tablet can help them work in different areas, including accounting offices and others. Unfortunately, the BrailleSense products aren’t exactly affordable. It’s safe to assume that the BrailleSense Polaris tablet will also have a quite high price tag. However, it could be a great investment for those who need to complete office work. The company doesn’t only develop useful gadgets for the blind. It also offers solutions for deaf people and those who suffer from low vision.
