Epson Introduces Faster Document Scanner

Epson America, Inc. just announced the latest addition to their lineup of portable scanners, the DS-320. The new scanner is even faster than the previous models. It is able to reach speeds up to 25 ppm/50 ipm, which makes it the fastest device in its class. It also features a 20-page Auto Document Feeder with single-pass duplex scanning. This makes it perfect for business users also, not only for home offices. The new scanner is easy to integrate with existing document management software, thanks to the TWAIN and ISIS drivers it comes equipped with.

The Epson DS-320 comes with a robust software package. This includes the company’s Document Capture, ABBYY FineReader, and Presto! BizCard Reader. Besides this, users can choose between locally managing document or scanning them directly to different cloud services. This way, they can always have their document close by. The new scanner comes with an updated version of Epson’s Document Capture. The new version of the software offers a simplified user interface. This way users can more easily scan documents and send them directly to a pre-defined destination. The aforementioned software also enables users to clean up images and enhance or dropout colors. The TWAIN and ISIS drivers make the scanner compatible with the majority of third- party software.

The DS-320 will become available in late January. Customers will be able to purchase it from select value added resellers, different distributors nationwide, and the company’s online store. The retail price of the scanner is $299. This is quite affordable given its efficiency. It is small, portable, and it can perform its tasks extremely fast. The device comes with a one-year limited warranty with advance exchange service. There is also an extended service plan. users can benefit from up to five years of overnight exchange programs. The device can prove to be the perfect choice for small businesses. However, if you frequently scan a large number of documents, you might want to consider purchasing a bigger and more performant scanner. Even though the press release doesn’t mention whether the scanner will be globally available or not, it’s safe to assume that it will reach the international market soon.
