iPhone 6 Battery Percentage Freezing Investigated by Apple

Some iPhone 6 and iPhone 6S users reported that their smartphones don’t display the correct battery percentage. The problem seems to occur more often when users travel to another time zone or manually change the time on their devices. Even though the problem doesn’t affect the battery life of the smartphone, it still is an important issue, because users are misled by their handsets and think that they have more battery life than they actually do, causing them to run out of juice without any warning. Users  could think that the battery of their smartphone will last through lunchtime but it could actually turn off exactly when they are expecting an important call or email.

Apple is aware of this battery issue and according to a statement, the company is currently investigating the problem and trying to find a solution for it. Until the company figures out a way to solve the issue, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6S users should make sure that their smartphone sets the time automatically. They can do this by restarting their device and then go to Settings > General > Date & Time and turn “Set Automatically” on, in case it isn’t already turned on. This will at least temporarily fix the problem until Apple figures out what causes it exactly and how it can be solved permanently.

This isn’t the first battery issue reported by iPhone 6 and iPhone 6S users, it was also said that depending on the chip versions of the smartphone, battery life could vary.  The difference was minor, however, and nothing could be done about it, just hope to get the chip variation that ensures the better battery life. The current issue could be solved with the next version of the operating system, but there is no news regarding the possible launch date of the new iOS software.
